Skyscraper
Buildings as well as people have their own soul and name. They live with the environment in which they originated.
Buildings as well as people have their own soul and name. They live with the environment in which they originated. The Bijeljina Skyscraper is the best confirmation in that sense.
The construction of the Bijeljina Skyscraper took a long time to prepare and took about two years. The construction was completed in 1960. The first occupants of the Skyscrapers at that time were the cream of Bijeljina, all influential people, experts, directors, inspectors, politicians… The newly built building in the center of Bijeljina was then the largest building in the city with nine floors. He bounced in everything and looked like a loner in the space of the plain, which is, somehow, family and family. It has become a darling of the city and the environment, but also the only building with an elevator and a real elevator driver. On the last, ninth floor was the Businessmen's Club or some kind of modern cafe, the forerunner of all today's cafes in the city.
Climbing the Skyscraper has become a matter of prestige. For all those who were lucky enough to climb to the top, a book of impressions was prepared. There were many recorded outpourings of emotion and admiration with signatures and initials. People went to the Skyscraper like to a cinema or a theater, the cafe was always full, and every place was full. And then, all of a sudden, it all came to an end. After more than two years, the elevator stopped for a longer period of time. In the meantime, influential and responsible people have secured better apartments in new locations. And the story of the first elevator in Semberija and the lifter Faki remained a reminder of the great times of the Skyscraper, and a beautiful period in the history of our city.
