The oldest building in Bijeljina is the Church of St. George. It has been preserved from the Turkish period. In its place there was an older church that is mentioned with certainty as early as 1735. The construction of the current church began in 1871, and was consecrated on St. George's Day in 1872. It was built in a mixture of Russian and Byzantine style, large in size, and is characterized by a dome and a large bell tower. He restored the iconostasis, as well as the wall paintings, in 1949/50. academic painter Karlo Macek. The church archives, unfortunately, were mostly destroyed in World War II.
